“An Effective School”
In an effective school children learn the essential knowledge, concepts and skills needed for them to become good human beings. The school aims at the overall development of the children. Effective schools are those that successfully progress the learning and development of all of their students. Their staff will be strong and professional. The school will have a clear positive philosophy. The environment will be conducive to learning. There will be an effective student welfare system. A strong organizational framework with a broad and balanced curriculum will be one of the main features. There will be meaningful assessment and reporting of student’s progress. The school supports parent and community participation. The school atmosphere will be safe, clean, secure and welcoming.

In an effective school, there is a clearly articulated school mission through which staff shares an understanding and commitment to instructional goals, priorities, assessment procedures and accountability. Staff accepts responsibility for student’s learning of the school’s essential curricular goals. Everybody knows where they are going and why.

Dawn International School always aims at improving our effectiveness. We believe in Formation, Information and Transformation. Our students are given personal care and attention. In order to ensure individual care, we have limited the maximum number of children in one class to 20. Our school timing is from 8:30 AM to 3:15 PM for all grades including K.G. We begin at 8:30 AM with breakfast. Teachers dine along with the students. All the students eat from the school. We have a well - equipped cafeteria with trained chefs. They prepare Chinese, continental and South Indian Cuisines. We use less oil and spices. Teachers see that all the students eat well. There is a food committee in the school in which students also are members. According to the feedback of the committee, every month we change the menu. Table manners are also taught to the students. At 10:30 AM, they have soup/juice. They have lunch at 12:30 PM and tea with snacks at 3:00 PM.

In order to make the learning atmosphere conducive all our classrooms and buses are air conditioned. We provide door to door pick up. Our school vehicles go to all the pocket roads to pick up our kids. At 8:45 AM, we have our morning assembly. In the assembly, in addition to the Prayer and Hymn, we have included many items like Thought For The Day with its explanation, Riddle For The Day, G.K. For The Day, Scripture Reading (one day from the Bible, one day from the Koran, one day from the Bhagavat Gita), Community Singing (by grade) and other items to give all our students a chance to present something in the assembly. We encourage our children in public speaking and debate. One child from one grade gives a speech in the morning assembly. The child can select a topic on his own. He shares his thoughts about his favourite subject with his friends. All these activities help children overcome stage fear and improve presentation skills. By the end of one term, all our children perform something or the other in the assembly. We believe in maintaining a family atmosphere. Everybody’s birthday will be celebrated in the assembly. Rewards and Awards of external competitions and examinations will be once again given to them in the morning assembly. We celebrate all important days in the assembly to inculcate the patriotic spirit and cultural harmony in the minds of our kids. When we have special programmes we see to it that all our children are on stage. Programmes are designed for kids not for the sake of programmes alone. The aim of celebration is to give our kids an environment to enjoy their creativity and talents, thereby improving their overall personality.

We give equal emphasis on arts and academics. Under the changed circumstances of the present day life, it is not enough that a child is academically brilliant alone, he should be equally talented in the other areas of life too. The academics impart inspiring ideas on one hand whereas Art gives room for the development of inborn talents of the children. Along with the academic periods, we have included PT, Art and Vocal Music. In addition to this, every day from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, we have Fine Arts . Monday we have School Band, House Activities and Club Activities. Children are divided into many houses and different activities happen on a regular basis. There are five clubs namely Chess Club, Quiz Club, Science Club, Nature Club and Literature Club. Tuesday, we have Yoga and Personal Development classes; Wednesday, Karate and Craft; Thursday, Keyboard, Violin and Origamy; and Friday, Guitar, Classical Dance and Glass and Pot Painting. Also we have Swimming and Roller Skating. All these activities are being offered to everybody. Students need not pay any extra fees for any of these activities. According to their taste and talents, they can choose. We encourage them to take part in all the activities.

We take our children outside the campus for field trips and study tours every year. It gives them lots of practical knowledge and they will be exposed to the various applications of what they have learned in the classroom.

We also encourage our children to do community services. They collect old clothes and visit orphanages and old-age homes. They donate money collected and also some useful materials.

Sports activities also are given equal importance. In our school building, we have an indoor swimming pool and indoor basket ball court. We conduct house - wise cricket matches, football and basket ball tournaments etc to encourage our children to have a healthy competitive attitude and real sportsmanship. Annual sports day is celebrated in a colourful manner.

Everything to meet the needs of the children and parents is available under one roof at Dawn International School. Our aim is to create not only good Indian citizens, but also good world citizens. Our children are happy and comfortable in our campus. Our life is dedicated for that purpose. Let the Almighty shower His blessings on you. Wishing you all the very best and WELCOME TO Dawn International School.
